fter having been introduced to the world of sequencers and synthesisers in the Little Blue Men studio, Alex discovered his predilection for composing electronic music. Years later Alex co-founded Devils Mind Records, which specialises primarily in night-time psychedelic trance music by putting out compilations, albums and EPs in limited editions only, promoting artists from different corners of the world. Apart from working with Devils Mind Records, Alex has also collaborated with other labels. One year’s work was channelled into a compilation of Scandinavian forest music, Libération Animale, which came out on the prominent Italian label Inpsyde Media in July 2009, making it the first psytrance compilation set to raise awareness for animal rights. As goes for the Kiriyama sound of today, Alex’s style has expanded since the start much thanks to his travels – having performed in more than 20 countries ranging from Japan in the East to the American Pacific Coast in the West – through which he has discovered new sources of inspiration. Thus, it’s become increasingly more difficult to categorise his music as the style floats across different genres. Although it’s common that people think of Kiriyama as a producer of nocturnal trance music, one could say that today Alex’s sound pertains to the Scandinavian goa trance part of the psychedelic music spectrum.
